Weather Update

Conditions are turning favorable for the further withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from additional areas of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, and Punjab. However, some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours. Meanwhile, a low-pressure system is currently positioned over North Odisha and the adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal and Gangetic West Bengal. This system is accompanied by a cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level, which is tilting southwestward with increasing altitude. A new low-pressure area is expected to form over the northwest and nearby central Bay of Bengal. As it moves northwestward, it may strengthen into a depression near the south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts by tomorrow. This system is likely to cross these coastal regions after two days. During next five days, light to moderate rainfall is expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, influenced by a weather system moving in from the Bay of Bengal. Meanwhile, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are likely to receive light rain due to a western disturbance. Light rain or drizzle is also anticipated across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, and parts of eastern and northern Rajasthan during this period. Over the next two days, light to moderate rainfall is expected across East and Central India, with heavier spells likely in Odisha and Chhattisgarh. West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh may see similar rain conditions starting in two days, continuing for three days thereafter. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h are very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Odisha during the next two days. Bihar is also expected to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds beginning tomorrow, lasting for three day. Over the next three days, light to moderate rainfall is expected across Maharashtra and Goa. In Gujarat, similar rain conditions are likely to begin after two days and continue for the following three days. In Northeast India, light rainfall is expected over Assam and Meghalaya during the next three days. Meanwhile, Mizoram and Manipur are likely to receive heavier spells of rain over the same period. In South Peninsular India, light to moderate rainfall is expected over Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the next two days. Karnataka and Telangana are likely to receive similar rainfall starting tomorrow, continuing for two days. Strong surface winds with speeds reaching 40–50 km/h are very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh for the next five days. Interior Karnataka may also experience strong winds, reaching 30–40 km/h, during the next two days.
