Thunderstorms and Rainfall Expected in East and Central India

Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the northeast Bay of Bengal, Myanmar–South Bangladesh coast, a low-pressure area has formed over the Northeast Bay of Bengal. Over the next few days, several parts of East and Central India are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Odisha and Chhattisgarh will see these conditions persist for the next four days. In Jharkhand, the rain and thunderstorm activity is likely to taper off after two days. Meanwhile, Bihar is expected to begin experiencing similar weather from the third day onward, continuing through the forecast period. Additionally, thunderstorms with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph are very likely across East India over the next five days. West India is set to experience varied rainfall activity over the coming days. Maharashtra will see light to moderate rain, with a few heavy spells likely, during the next two days. Meanwhile, Goa is expected to begin receiving similar rainfall starting two days from now, with the wet conditions continuing for three days thereafter. Light rainfall is expected over Assam and Meghalaya during the next two days, bringing mild relief and cooler conditions. In contrast, rain activity over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura is likely to taper off by tomorrow. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected across parts of South Peninsular India over the coming days. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and North Interior Karnataka are likely to experience these conditions consistently over the next four days. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Coastal Karnataka are expected to see similar weather beginning two days from now.
